How AGC Chemicals automates SAP compliance checks with Alteryx and the DVW Connector for SAP
AGC Chemicals Company, part of the global AGC group, manufactures caustic soda, vinyl chloride, urethane, and fluorochemicals. As part of a wider data-automation program, the team needed to keep chemical-substance regulatory compliance airtight without the manual effort that came with it.
The challenge
Shipment information lived in SAP. Chemical-substance master data lived separately. Matching the two by hand, often in Excel, was slow and error-prone, and any miss carried real regulatory risk before a shipment went out.
The solution
AGC Chemicals connected Alteryx Server to SAP using the DVW Alteryx Connector for SAP. Shipment data is read directly from SAP and matched against the chemical-substance master inside an Alteryx workflow, flagging potential regulatory issues before shipment. The whole process runs inside the Alteryx workflow.
The outcome
Compliance checking that used to be manual now runs as an automated workflow, removing around 1,700 manual checks and about 140 hours of work a year and reducing the chance of a costly miss. With the SAP-to-Alteryx foundation in place, AGC plans to extend the same approach to supply chain, office operations, and HR analytics.
